Airports:	The Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw International Airport (SKB) is close to downtown Basseterre and Newcastle Airport in Nevis (VEV) is close to Charlestown.

St. Kitts and Nevis were the first Caribbean islands colonized by Britain in 1623 and 1628 but with disputes with France that did not end until 1783. St. Kitts and Nevis became autonomous in 1971. Nevis itself has sought autonomy from St. Kitts in recent years.

Nevis is proud of its historical heroes, specifically American statesman Alexander Hamilton (born in Nevis) and the UK's famous Admiral Horatio Nelson met and married Fanny Brice in Nevis in 1787. For beach goers, Nevis offers Oulie Beach along with horseback riding, hiking, diving and snorkelling.

On St. Kitts, history buffs can enjoy old forts including the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Brimstone Hill Fortress. Frigate Bay has most of the accommodations and access to the Southeast Peninsula, with white-sand coves.
