Guadeloupe comprises seven islands with Basse-Terre (the largest) with a narrow sea channel separating it from Grande-Terre. These two main islands are accompanied by Iles des Saintes (with its terrific beaches francophone heritage), Marie-Galante (with more beaches some of the Caribbean's best rum), and La Désirade, a recommended day trip to see its scenery that has been unscathed by settlement.

Tourism options range from the dramatic, specifically the volcano La Soufrière on Basse-Terre to the historic. Grande-Terre, specifically in Pointe-à-Pitre, boasts museums housed in colonial manors, an archaeological museum, the zoological garden and more.

With 200 plus restaurants influenced by Caribbean and French cuisines makes for a great trip for the foodies in your group.
