British Virgin Islands has four main islands - Tortola, Anegada, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke - plus 36 additional small islands made mostly of coral. For about 200 years, English and Dutch pirates used the British Virgin Islands as bases of operations.

Due to its small size and high standard of living, the British Virgin Islands has a low-key feel. Many BVI islands enjoy indigenous flora and fauna, including red-legged tortoises and Anegada iguanas. Tortola is the largest island on which the capital Road Town, and cruise ship dock, is found. Virgin Gorda is mountainous and provides secluded beaches.
